Our production plant, which is fitted with all of the new equipment, manufactures SS 904L Rod & Bars.   904L stainless steel rods are one of the few stainless steels that, at temperatures up to 95 degrees F (35 degrees C), provide full resistance in such environments over the entire concentration range from 0 to 100 percent. 904L stainless steel bars are unstabilized austenitic stainless steel with low carbon and high alloy content. SS 904L round bars are also resistant to stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion. SS 904L rods are widely used in the chemical process industry, including the production of phosphate based fertilizers.  SS 904L rods are non-magnetic and offer excellent formability, strength and weldability. Due to their extremely high chemical content – 4.5% molybdenum and 25% nickel, the 904L alloy round bars offer excellent SCC resistance, general corrosion resistance and pitting resistance up to Steels with increased molybdenum content SS 316L and SS 317L. The addition of copper to Alloy 904L rods provides much better resistance to strong reducing acids, in particular sulfuric acid. In hot, intense corrosive solutions, the corrosion resistance is mainly determined by the nickel content for 904L grade round bars. With a nickel content of 25 percent, grade 904L bars have proved to be a good alternative to most conventional stainless steels. The cold hardening rate of grade 904L bars makes them less workable than grades 410 and 304.
What is the difference between 90/10 and 70/30 copper-nickel?

CuNi 90/10 is more economical and offers good corrosion resistance and thermal conductivity, ideal for standard marine piping and heat exchangers. CuNi 70/30 provides higher strength and better performance in aggressive or high-velocity seawater, commonly used in offshore and desalination systems.
