Stainless Steel 202 Heat Treatment & Welding
Annealing: The heat to 1010–1120°C (1850–2050°F), hold for uniform soaking, then water quench or rapid air cool. Stress relieving: 200–425°C (390–800°F).
Welding: SS 202 can be welded by TIG, MIG, SMAW, SAW and resistance methods. Use 308L or 309L filler. The grade is more prone to hot cracking than 304 due to higher manganese — preheat is generally not required, but inter-pass temperature should stay below 175°C.
