Detailed Information

Due to its exceptional corrosion resistance, high strength, and beautiful look, stainless steel components are used in a wide range of applications in both the industrial and consumer industries. Stainless steel is a metal alloy composed of steel and other elements including chromium, nickel, molybdenum, silicon, aluminium, and carbon. Chrome steel’s basic component is iron, which is combined with carbon to make steel. Chromium is added to make it rust-resistant. The inclusion of nickel improves corrosion resistant characteristics, especially when used aggressively. Localized corrosion resistance against scarring is provided by the inclusion of molybdenum. In order to improve the characteristics and structure of stainless steel, other alloying metals such as copper, titanium, and vanadium are added. The stainless steel 904L is austenitic. Its molybdenum addition offers it higher resistance to localised chloride attack (pitting and crevice corrosion) and stronger resistance to reducing acids, while its copper addition gives it useful corrosion resistance to all concentrations of sulphuric acid as compared to 316L. It is also more resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking because to its high alloying concentration, although it is still vulnerable. Its low carbon content minimises intergranular corrosion and renders it resistant to welding sensitization. 904L has a high concentration of alloying elements, which provides it outstanding consistent corrosion resistance. 904L was designed to tolerate conditions containing dilute sulfuric acid, and it is one of the few stainless steels that gives full resistance in such situations at temperatures up to 95°F (35°C) over the whole concentration range of 0 to 100 percent. 904L is also resistant to a variety of other inorganic acids, including phosphoric acid and the majority of organic acids. Acids and acid solutions containing halide ions, on the other hand, can be quite aggressive, making the corrosion resistance of 317L, 317LMN, and 904L inadequate. At Lakshya International we are passionate about metal processing and manufacturing Stainless Steel 904L Components. At each stage of the production process, our specialists conduct a thorough check.
What is the difference between 90/10 and 70/30 copper-nickel?

CuNi 90/10 is more economical and offers good corrosion resistance and thermal conductivity, ideal for standard marine piping and heat exchangers. CuNi 70/30 provides higher strength and better performance in aggressive or high-velocity seawater, commonly used in offshore and desalination systems.
