SS 15-5PH rod & Bars is a martensitic and weather hardening grade of stainless steel. However, the alloy contains alloying elements such as nickel, copper and chromium. The sophisticated structure that resides in the alloy increases the level of strength of the alloy. And quenching the material at low temperature improves strength and allows it to be processed well together with the alloy. 17-4 stainless steel bar, also known as UNS S17400, 17-4 PH, 1.4542 is one of the original precipitation hardening grades. It is mainly composed of 17% chromium, 4% nickel, 4% copper, the rest iron. There are also traces of manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, columbium (or niobium) and tantalum. 17-4 PH stainless steel provides an excellent combination of oxidation and corrosion resistance. Other features include high strength, toughness, and high-quality mechanical properties at temperatures up to 600 ° F.
