It is commonly considered as a chromium stainless steel, with applications in exhaust systems of automobiles and applications that demand weldability. Grade 409 steels are also available in highly stabilized forms, such as grades S40930, S40920 and S40910. The stability of these grades is provided by the presence of niobium, titanium, or both, in the composition of steels. 

 In its softest condition, these Stainless Steel 410 Slip-On Flanges are tough and chips build up on tools. Stainless Steel 347H is the low carbon rendition of 310. It doesn’t require post-weld toughening as is widely utilized as a part of substantial gage segments (over around 6mm). Stainless Steel Grade 430 with its higher carbon content discovers application at elevated temperatures. 430 is a molybdenum bearing, low carbon content “L” grade austenitic stainless steel that provides improved corrosion resistance over 304L and 316L stainless steels. The low carbon provides resistance to sensitization during welding and other thermal processes. 430 is non-magnetic in the annealed condition but may become slightly magnetic as a result of welding. 

440 has excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of chemicals, especially in acidic chloride environments such as those encountered in pulp and paper mills. Increased levels of chromium, nickel and molybdenum compared to 316L stainless steel improve resistance to chloride pitting and general corrosion. Resistance increases with molybdenum alloy content. 440 is resistant to sulfuric acid concentrations up to 5 percent at temperatures as high as 120°F (49°C).
