Moreover, Alloy 317L butt weld fittings provide better creep resistance, high temperature tensile strength, and stress to break strength than conventional alloys. 317L alloy pipe fittings is a molybdenum additive, low grade “L” austenitic carbon, which provides better corrosion resistance compared to SS 304L and SS 316. Meanwhile, these SS 317L butt weld fittings are austenitic containing molybdenum, low in carbon alloy with reinforced admixtures of nickel, molybdenum and chromium for better corrosion resistance and increased resistance to chemical attack of acetic, formic, sulfuric, tartaric and citric acids.

Due to the lower carbon content of the 317L fittings, the alloy can be welded without intercrystalline corrosion occurring. Typically, intergranular corrosion is the result of chromium carbide precipitation that occurs on the surface of a metal with a higher carbon content and exposed to high temperatures for an extended period of time. As the alloy for 317L fittings can withstand high temperatures without the risk of intergranular corrosion, these fittings can be used in a post-weld condition. In addition to this benefit, an alloy of 317L pipe fittings has been added.
