S316 is a steel based on nickel and chromium, with an increased level of resistance to various substances due to the addition of molybdenum. The addition of molybdenum makes it more resistant to corrosion, in particular to chlorine pitting. This material is found in high temperature areas. Similarly, it resists the pressure on the fracture and the crawl fracture. SS 316 seamless pipes are widely appreciated for their various properties. Post-weld annealing is not required when welding thin profiles as SS316 Ti has excellent welding properties. These ASTM A312 TP 316Ti stainless steel seamless tubes are more resistant to common corrosion and crevice / pitting corrosion than conservative austenitic nickel chromium such as SS 304. The addition of titanium in these 316Ti stainless steel seamless tubes is to reduce the risk of intergranular corrosion (IC) when heated in the temperature range from 425 degrees C to 815 degrees C. These 316Ti SS seamless tubes have a high carbon content can be prone to allergy, chromium carbide pattern at the grain boundary at temperatures ranging from about 900 degrees F to 1500 degrees F which can cause intercrystalline corrosion. SS316Ti alloy is a new modification of the titanium based SS316 alloy. When our welded 316Ti austenitic steel pipes are subjected to prolonged heating in the temperature range 425 degrees C – 815 degrees C, the carbon in the steel diffuses to the grain boundaries and precipitates the chromium carbide. This removes the chromium from the solid solution in these 316Ti stainless steel EFW tubes and leaves a lower chromium content near the grain boundaries, where the steels in this state are referred to as “sensitized”.
