What is Stainless Steel 316 and 316Ti Plate?

High chrome with molybdenum additions can be used for these 316 stainless steel plates in quite aggressive conditions such as seawater. 316 stainless steel coils are also selected for their resistance to stress corrosion cracking, which is not as deformable as austenitic stainless steels. These 316 stainless steel sheets are magnetic which cannot be hardened by heat treatment. The most common are 316 stainless steel plates, the microstructure of which is derived from the addition of nickel, manganese and nitrogen. These 316 stainless steel plates have the same structure as ordinary steel at much higher temperatures. This structure gives these 316 stainless steel strip coils a distinctive combination of weldability and formability. The corrosion resistance of these 316 stainless steel perforated coils can be increased by adding chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen. SS 316 coils cannot be cured by heat treatment, but have the useful property of being work-hardenable to high strength levels while maintaining a useful level of ductility and toughness. These standard SS 316L perforated coils are prone to stress corrosion cracking.

316Ti stainless steel coils have been in use for several years and were initially designed to resist corrosion in dilute sulfuric acid. Our 316Ti stainless steel strip coils will be standardized and approved for use in pressure vessels in many countries. Structurally, these 316Ti perforated stainless steel coils are completely austenitic, they are much less sensitive to precipitation of ferrite as well as sigma phases compared to conventional austenitic grades with higher molybdenum content. It is characteristic that thanks to a mixture with a relatively higher content of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and copper, our 316Ti stainless steel sheets provide high-quality resistance to alkaline corrosion, especially in sulfuric and also phosphoric conditions.
