Both Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 are commercially pure Nickel, meaning nickel is their primary base metal and consists of approximately 99.6% of the total alloy. Chemically, the main difference between Nickel 200 and 201 is that Nickel 201 is a low carbon version with a carbon content of up to 0.02 of the total alloy. Compared to nickel 200, which has a carbon content of approximately 0.15 times the maximum total alloy.

Nickel 201 is used in applications such as combustion boats, caustic evaporators,  plater bars and electronic components. A distinguishing feature of Nickel 201 is that the alloy is more suitable as compared to nickel 200 for applications  that involve exposure to environments, where the  temperatures  can rise above 600ºF. Both grades, ie. Nickel 201 & Nickel 200 Flange Dimensions can be forged between a temperature range of 2200 ºF to 1600ºF .Although light forging may be carried out below a temperature of 1200ºF, which is generally done in order to improve the alloy’s mechanical properties.

The ASME SB-162 Uns N02201 Flanges are annealed as a recovery from cold working. The temperatures at which this operation is carried out may vary from about 1100ºF  through 1700ºF. This process depends upon the metal’s mechanical working history. Controlled atmospheres should be used to maintain the appearance of the  1-1/2 Polished Nickel Flange.
