Inconel 718 round bar is a nickel-chromium superalloy bar whose constituent is approximately 55 per cent nickel. It has approximately 17 percent chromium, approximately 4.9 percent niobium, at least 6.6 percent iron, and regulated amounts of aluminum, boron, carbon, cobalt, copper, manganese, phosphorus, lead, sulfur, and silicon. Inconel 718 bar profiles like Inconel 718 flat bars also integrate tantalum and titanium in the profile to improve stability and strength.

The alloy has a final tensile strength of approximately 1375 Mpa and a low yield strength of approximately 1100 Mpa. Typical product forms are Inconel 718 hex bar, square bar, Inconel 718 rod, 718 round bar (718 Inconel round bar), and flat bar, each of which is designed to be used in a particular application, and which has minor differences in mechanical response. Alloy 718 rod (alloy 718 bar) is a material that is characterized by its durability, ductility, and high corrosion resistance. The common ones are gas turbine, subsurface safety-tool valves, industrial fasteners, thrust reverser components, and aircraft engine parts. Lakshya Steel also offers bar stock and AMS 5662 bar including Inconel 718 threaded rod, 718 welding rod, and Inconel 718 tig rod to meet small and large quantities of requirements.

It is a prefered grade in terms of weldability and formability, high oxidation resistance and provides reliable performance up to high temperatures of about 1300F. UNS N07718 bright bar is also very effective in cryogenic conditions so that it can be used in the most demanding environments.

Our Inconel 718 round bar is made of a nickel-chromium superalloy that provides high tensile and yield strength and good elongation and consistent service up to high temperatures. These bars have a density of approximately 8.2 g/cm 3, a melting temperature of approximately 1350 C (2460 F) and tensile strength of approximately 930 Mpa, which makes them designed to serve in a vigorous manner. Alloy 718 bar is also highly resistant to fatigue as well as retaining structural integrity during thermal cycling as the alloy provides a reliable option in demanding environments.

Inconel 718 round bar stock is also available in large quantities that enable us to dispatch the products to our customers within India and other parts of the world. We also ship regularly to hubs like Mumbai, London, Singapore, Houston and Sydney in five continents. We are a reliable supplier of Inconel 718 round bars and as such, we maintain large stocks of sizes and finishes in stock and we can turn around fast with delivery options that suit your project requirements. Others are 718 round bar, 718 Inconel round bar, Inconel 718 rod in bright, polished, and black finishes. Due to the fact that the price of Inconel 718 round bars is determined by size, finish and grade, and market conditions, the rates may change. In India, the average cost is approximately 3000-5000/kg with simple specifications being the lower range and larger or specialty diameters being the higher range.

Frequently Asked Questions About Inconel 718 Round Bar

What is 718 Inconel?

Inconel 718 is a high-strength nickel-chromium superalloy developed in the 1950s. It contains 50-55% nickel, 17-21% chromium, iron, niobium, molybdenum, titanium, and aluminum for exceptional strength and corrosion resistance at high temperatures.

Are nickel 718 and Inconel 718 the same?

Yes, Nickel 718 and Inconel 718 are the same material. Inconel is a trademarked name by Special Metals Corporation for this nickel-chromium superalloy, while Nickel Alloy 718 (UNS N07718) is the generic designation for the same alloy.

What precautions should be taken while machining Inconel 718?

Use sharp carbide tools, maintain low cutting speeds, ensure rigid tool clamping, provide adequate cooling, avoid interrupted cuts, use heavy-duty chip breakers, and machine in stages. The alloy work hardens rapidly, requiring specialized techniques.

Is 718 Inconel stronger than titanium?

Yes, Inconel 718 has higher tensile and yield strength than pure titanium and is comparable to Ti-6Al-4V at room temperature. At high temperatures, Inconel 718 maintains superior strength, though titanium offers better strength-to-weight ratio.

What are the recommended cutting speeds and feeds for Inconel 718?

Recommended cutting speeds for Inconel 718: Turning 35-45 m/min (110-150 SFM), Milling 25-35 m/min (80-110 SFM), Drilling 25-35 m/min (80-110 SFM). Use carbide tools with stable clamping and adequate cooling for optimal results.
